Recommended size

1080×1080 pixels (square) is a good standard for catalogs. It's enough for digital display, acceptable for print, and doesn't inflate file size.

Why square?

When every image shares the same ratio, the catalog looks tidy and professional. Mixed ratios make layouts look disorganised.

White is the best choice because it:

• Makes the product stand out
• Uses less ink in print
• Produces a more consistent look

Phone photography tips

You can take good photos with a phone:

• Shoot next to a window in daylight, not under yellow bulbs
• Avoid direct flash
• Rest the phone on a tripod or stable surface
• Shoot from slightly further away and crop, rather than getting too close

File size

Keep each image under about 300 KB. If you have 200 products at 2 MB each, your PDF becomes 400 MB — effectively unsendable.
