Persian Catalog Maker — Why Foreign Tools Fall Short for RTL Catalogs

If you have ever built a Persian catalog with a foreign design tool, you have probably hit these problems. They are not matters of taste — they are real technical issues.

Problem 1: right-to-left layout

In a Persian catalog it is not only the text direction that flips. The whole page layout must mirror: images, prices, buttons. Most foreign tools only flip the text and leave the rest left-aligned.

Problem 2: fonts and connected letters

Persian uses connected letterforms. A font that does not support this properly shows words broken apart. In PDF output it is worse, because the font must be embedded or the text falls apart on the recipient's computer.

Problem 3: numbers and prices

Local currency with thousand separators, and Persian digits versus Latin ones. Most tools assume you are writing dollars.

Problem 4: how the catalog reaches the customer

Local buyers receive catalogs on WhatsApp or Telegram, not by email. The file must be light and open on a phone with nothing installed. An 80 MB PDF effectively never arrives.

Practical solution

  • Use a tool designed right-to-left from the start, not translated.
  • The font must be embedded in the export.
  • Compress images so the file stays under 10 MB.
  • Offer an HTML output alongside PDF — it opens faster on phones.

If you also have foreign customers

A point most people learn late: the Persian catalog and the English catalog should not be two separate projects. If your tool builds both from one product list, a price change is done once. That is what the multilingual catalog maker does.
