Why Excel is a good starting point

Most businesses already keep price lists and stock in Excel. The data is already structured — it just needs to move into a catalog.

Columns you should have

• Product code — for ordering
• Product name — the only truly required column
• Category — for filtering inside the catalog
• Price and MOQ
• Short description
• Image — placed inside the cell

An important note about images

Insert images via Insert → Pictures into the image column, on the row of the matching product. Modern tools can extract those images and attach them to the correct product.

After importing

Images are usually squared and normalised automatically. Then you simply choose a template and export. Work that took hours by hand is done in minutes.
